How the program is structured:
This program is designed as three triads; each triad consists of three weekend sessions. The complete program is nine sessions. The usual space between each weekend session is five or six weeks. Each weekend begins with a Friday evening session, which will be a reflection of the last topic covered in the program. Saturdays will introduce the new topic and will be primarily directed towards your personal exploration of the topic. Your inner experience will be the focus. Sundays will be directed towards how this topic might be applied to working with others. The focus will be on application and integration in the outer world.
Psyche, Soul and Spirit is designed as a complete program. The sequence is important; the information and learning is cumulative as past themes are incorporated into current sessions. Participants should to be committed to completing the nine session training. Participants who successfully complete the full program will be granted certification from The Exquisite Trinity Institute.
All sessions will include:
Teachings related to theme of the session
Suggested practices and experiential exercises you can use to engage the topic and possibly integrate into your work with others. Whenever possible, energy, consciousness and feeling practices will be experienced during the session
Case studies and discussion relative to the topic, including suggested approaches as how to work with clients.
Participants are expected to:
Be willing to undertake a comprehensive inquiry of Self, as well as how to
work with others
Read suggested books and articles from the reading list that are related to the
session themes
Fulfill curriculum requirements. During the program you will be asked to create an expression of your experience of the theme. This expression might be by music, art, writing, film, photography.
Do the suggested practices between sessions
Engage in supervised guidance sessions during the 2nd and 3rd triads. Participants will be doing a spiritual psychology practicum during the 2nd and 3rd triads and will need to find a person (not a family member) willing to become a client for the duration of the practicum.
The First Triad:
Explores recurring themes of the human journey. The three themes of this triad are familiar ones in our lives. You will also frequently encounter these themes working with clients. Although each story may vary, there is much commonality in the human journey.
Session 1- The Call, the Response, the Quest
Every life can be seen as the hero/heroine’s journey. To begin the program we will explore the archetypal human quest: “what is my purpose and from what do I derive my life’s meaning?” What are you called to? How do we listen to and know our calling? How do you respond to a calling? What is the territory of the quest? By recognizing and attuning with our own callings we can help guide others in their quest.
Session 2- Landscapes of the Soul
During the course of our lives we traverse many landscapes. Discover the wisdom each one brings, whether it is the dark night, the garden, sitting by the well, or one the other common landscapes of the soul. When you view these diverse terrains with your soul as the lens, you can better understand the gifts and challenges each unique landscape offers. Do you spend most of your life in one landscape? Are there some you have never explored? Learn how you can sustain yourself and others while navigating the journey through these rich terrains.
Session 3- Earth, Wind, Fire, Air and Ether
Human nature is the alchemy of typologies. Understanding your core typology, how it operates in the world and relates to others, is essential in the quest for self-awareness. Much of our personality is rooted in our typology. Each typology offers gifts and challenges. Carl Jung suggested that often the typology we are least comfortable with could become the path to wholeness. What typology do you most embody? How do you view and respond to other typologies? Using the elements as a framework, this theme presents ways to discover and integrate the qualities and
characteristics of various typologies.
Second Triad
The second triad is designed to explore the unconscious aspects of Self present in all of us.
4th session- A Soul Inspired Model for Decision Making – Guest
facilitator Trevor Simpson
The DecisionClarity model introduces you to a way of making decisions that uses both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. It can help to clarify why you might be feeling conflict around a particular decision. Conflict is frequently a consequence when our emotional and rational perspectives are discordant. The DecisionClarity model guides you through four simple steps to assist you in connecting with your own sense of deeper wisdom. It introduces a tool kit for accessing your own intuitive faculties. We will work with a series of practices to help engage your intuitive faculties (e.g. drawing, oracles, music, journaling and dreams) and connect with your soul’s deeper guidance.
5th session- Mining the Gold of the Shadow
Shadow is a term that was first coined by Carl G Jung. It could be understood as denied or repressed aspects of Self. As well, Shadow may be the parts of self that one does not want to identify with. The gold hidden within the shadow is revealed when we bring shadow into the light. Bringing the shadow into light can be done in a playful and safe way. Learning the whys, hows, and whens to work with shadow can help ensure that we do not act out the shadow aspect unconsciously. Separating the voice of the inner critic from shadow, a key way of working with the shadow requires discernment and mindfulness. Discovering what we project onto others, both positive and negative, can provide clues to understanding our own shadow. Working with others necessitates personal understanding of your own shadow. The illumination of Shadow always holds the potential for an expanded sense of Self; its golden gifts are profound.
6th session- Dreams, Archetypes, Myths and Images -
Messages from the unconscious and the universe
Imagine a realm that is a vital part of yourself, but one that you rarely access. The busyness of everyday life often shields us from spending time with our inner/soul world. Accessing our inner realm through dreams, understanding what archetypes and myths represent, and engaging our active imagination can open portals to rich and wondrous realms of Self. Dreams, Archetypes, Myths and Images help us access knowledge and insight that is not available through the rational mind or outer processes.
Third Triad
Invites us to further expand and integrate our unique
sacred essence and provides the skills to guide others to do so
7th session - Who is your Divine? Exploring your own construct of “God” *
Whether you are conscious or it or not, the who and what of your God conception affects you. Our soul and psyche holds some construct of this paramount concept called God. Part of developing spiritual and psychological maturity is to discern what we believe and the nature of our relationship with spirit. This session will provide a container to understand and search your inner recesses, allowing for an earnest inquiry into who is your Divine and what role does it play in your life. Is your God congruent with your worldview? How does your God concept align to suffering and man’s inhumanity to man? Have you reconciled injustice, wrong and right, violence with your god? Humanity may be at a juncture where we may need to challenge and transform, if necessary, our personal sense of who God is, and what role does he/she/it play in our world as we expand and evolve.
*God is being used as term to denote “to whom it may concern”. This term is not
intended to represent any one religion or construct of God. Other appropriate terms
might include great mystery, higher self, consciousness, great goddess, holy
presence etc.
8th session- Sex, Soul and Spirit: The Exquisite Trinity
The relationship one has with these three crucial aspects of life is essential to the understanding of Self. Is your spiritual nature supported and honored by your sexual/sensual nature, and vice versa? Is your soul present in this union? Sexuality is not just about being sexual. It includes understanding and being able to access our life force energy. The greater significance of sexuality may lie in activating our life force energy to fully engage life itself. As humans we must traverse, not transcend, the often confusing and chaotic territory of our sexuality. By discovering core beliefs we may hold about sex, soul and spirit we can better understand how our root energy weaves through all life issues. When our sensual/sexual nature is harmonious and congruent with our soul‘s deepest longing and our spiritual essence, we come to embody our essential being. We are then capable of meeting the challenges of the human journey.
9th session- Creating Sacred Ceremony: Honoring the
Completion of this program
Every accomplishment, passage and/or transition should be marked and honored in some meaningful way. Meaningful ritual and sacred ceremony is sorely missing in our culture, which may be the crux of the emptiness and isolation many experience. Rites of passage are important because they function as the central symbol for both personal and cultural renewal. Ritual, initiation and ceremonies build communities and connect individual life journeys to the collective mythic journey. Marking significant passages reminds us of the interconnectedness linking everything in the universe. As an acknowledgment of the completion of this program we will create a ceremony that reflects the contributions and attainments of each individual and the group as a whole. We will learn simple and yet profound ways to create ritual for ourselves, our families, our communities, and those we act in a guidance capacity with.
Exquisite Trinity Institute
Exquisite Trinity Institute was created as a venue to embody various seminars created to further the human potential.
Exquisite Trinity Institute derives its name from the Latin root of exquisite. Exquaerere - Latin for exquisite, means, “to seek out.” Humans must be seekers if they are to experience life as a meaningful journey. When we seek to understand and unify body, soul and spirit, the potential to create an exquisite trinity is present.
The primary aim of the institute is to support individuals to embrace their true nature/essence and full potential. The other aim is to provide sagacious and practical preparation for participants to guide others in attaining their full potential. By drawing from the knowledge of transpersonal/depth/Jungian psychology, and various wisdom, philosophical and spiritual traditions, the aims of the institute are
brought to life.
A certificate from the Exquisite Trinity Institute will be given
upon completion of this course.
